City of Perth small business grants

The City of Perth is offering cash grants of up to $2,000 to small businesses located within the City of Perth local government area to assist with business start-up, expansion or other innovative and creative business-related projects that provide a clear economic benefit to the city.

Applications for the 2014-15 round are being accepted until 22 May 2015 or until all funds have been allocated. Limited funding is available and applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Read more...

Fines to be introduced for breaches of industry codes

The Federal Government has moved to give the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) more powers that will allow it to apply fines to businesses breaching prescribed industry codes.

It is the first step in the start of a new era for franchising regulation and is part of a package of reforms to improve, simplify and modernise the regulatory regime for the sector. Read more...
