Small business support in challenging times
Here at the SBDC, we have been monitoring and responding to the rapidly evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) situation over the past weeks. Speaking to small business owners every day, we know that you are understandably concerned about the impact this virus will have on the viability of your business.
Our role during the pandemic will be to help inform small businesses facing disruption to your operations. With this in mind, we are redirecting our resources to provide support in areas of highest demand.
Helpful resources from SBDC
Firstly, there is a huge need for reliable information about the unfolding situation. We have established a new section on our website to pull together the latest information and advice about business impacts of coronavirus, using only trusted sources.
Our free business advice line on 133 140 is available to deal with your queries about how to navigate new Federal and State government measures introduced to alleviate the impacts of COVID-19 on small businesses. This includes advice on eligibility requirements. Experienced business advisers, briefed on the latest information as it comes to light, are available to answer your calls.
We have also developed new educational resources including a series of free webinars, to provide you with skills and information to respond to the potential impact of this disruption on your business. Topics include crisis communications, risk management, managing disruption to cash flow and supply chains. All webinars are free, to ensure there are no additional financial barriers for business owners during this challenging economic time.
In addition, we’re sharing all our information with small business owners through social channels including our Facebook page and Facebook group. They are also great platforms for you to discuss ideas and support each other.
Adjustments to our service
Responding to changing demand, we are focusing on delivering services over digital channels as well telephone and email, to service increased demand and minimise in-person contact. Advisory services will be available by telephone or email 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. In addition, our in-person business workshops will be replaced by webinars.
