Small Business Friendly Approvals Program
The Small Business Friendly Approvals Program aims to streamline the process of obtaining business licences and trading permits from local government authorities. It is part of a package of initiatives created by the WA Government to accelerate regulatory reform in order to support economic recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Approvals Program was successfully piloted with the cities of Canning and Stirling in late 2019.
Through the process, a suite of reform initiatives were identified that are designed to reduce the timeframe for granting an approval, improve business customers’ access to early information and guidance, improve customer service, and introduce internal efficiencies within the local government.
The SBDC will work with 20 local government authorities in 2020-2021 and 2021-22 to identify approvals reform initiatives to streamline the approvals process and help small businesses start, operate and grow in their local areas.
