There will be more Tourism BOOST workshops later this year. Email tourism@smallbusiness.wa.gov.au if you'd like us to let you know when the next workshops are scheduled.
The Small Business Development Corporation is thrilled that its Tourism BOOST program, including the Tourism BOOST Online Guide, has been awarded a silver medal in the Tourism Education and Training category for its valuable contribution to helping strengthen the small business sector in the tourism industry.

Chad D'Souza
Chad D'Souza has been working in the tourism and hospitality industry for more than 15 years.
Chad's tourism industry experience includes working with the Fosters Hotel Group running the Brass Monkey, Queens Hotel and the Subiaco Hotel.
For eight years, from 1998, after extensive travel and working abroad Chad joined Australian Pinnacle Tours (APT). APT is a family-owned West Australian Business and winner of five major category West Australian tourism awards. Chad worked as the company's international sales and marketing manager, travelling extensively and building the brand and tours with major wholesalers, inbound tour operators and retail chains across the world.
Chad then moved to New Zealand and developed his own consultancy firm where he assisted with the development of many tourism businesses and secured the management of New Zealand for Tourism Western Australia, which he and his team still successfully run today. After being approached by Henkel (Schwarzkopf) Chad filled the position of National Manager for two years in New Zealand.
In September 2009 Chad moved back home to Perth with his family continuing his consultancy services for clients like the Tourism Council of Western Australia (as Business Manager). He also managed a familiarisation contract for Tourism Western Australia, now presents Tourism BOOST workshops for SBDC, and above all else owns and manages Blinco Street Cafe in Fremantle as a pet project.
Chad brings a wealth of knowledge about the tourism and hospitality industry and looks forward to helping many more businesses increase their skills and profit margins, which will in turn strengthen the overall tourism sector in Western Australia.

"I went along to last year's Tourism Boost Workshop coordinated by Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) run by Kym Francesconi. It is a brilliant course to attend even for the experienced tourism operator. You can go to segments of the course and if business owners are too busy to attend the Succeeding Online section is the one I would choose. Session 2 and 3 together, are very worthwhile. It is also worth repeating the course too for information not absorbed and for networking purposes. It has taken me approx 1 year to put all that I learned from the Tourism Boost Workshop sessions into practice and I am proof that it works. I currently operate a holiday house, Moore River Holidays. We are on page 1 of Google if you search Moore River, Moore River Accommodation. We are booked out most weekends, we also do not have a peak period and low season price scale." Read more...
