Small Business Services

The Small Business Services Team provides guidance, referral and business facilitation services for the effective development of small business in Western Australia.

The team also develops programs to address specific needs within the sector including:

  • business migration into Western Australia
  • commercial tenancy
  • innovation to market
  • youth enterprise resource
  • marketing
  • women in business
  • franchising
  • indian ocean territories
  • workshops.

Business Facilitation Services

Business Facilitation Services consists of:

  • The Small Business Centre Support Unit that assists the statewide Small Business Centre network with a wide range of services including:
    • administering operational grant funding
    • assisting management committees with manager recruitment and training; and
    • maintaining benchmark data and research.
  • The Unit also coordinates activities which raise the profile of the Network such as involvement in events, editorial and advertising opportunities.
  • The Corporate Communications team is committed to championing the achievements of Western Australia's small business sector. It does this through accurate and timely communication of issues affecting small business and nurturing and building positive working relationships with key stakeholder groups. It also showcases the many services on offer at the SBDC through the coordination of appropriate advertising and events opportunities.

Policy, Planning and Stakeholder Relations

Our Policy, Planning and Stakeholder Relations team focuses on enhancing the growth and viability of the West Australian small business sector by:

  • undertaking research to identify issues impacting on the small business sector and assisting in the development of appropriate solutions, and promoting informed decision-making;
  • facilitating the development and review of policies and processes appropriate to the needs and characteristics of small business through;
    • advocacy and liaison with government agency representatives on behalf of individual small businesses, specific industries, or the sector as a whole;
    • promoting the need for consultation with small businesses and their representative organisations;
    • participation in decision-making and advisory bodies; and
    • initiating and managing key projects to address specific small business needs.

Corporate Resources

The Corporate Resources team assists in the achievement of our goals by providing a comprehensive support function comprising:

  • financial management including budgeting and accounting services;
  • human resource management;
  • facilities including asset management, fleet management and procurement;
  • online services management;
  • information technology infrastructure management;
  • administration; and
  • records, library and information management services.
