The Small Business Development Corporation wishes to congratulate KAPP Engineering and The Bodhi Tree on their success at the Western Australian Telstra Business Awards for 2010
KAPP Engineering was named "WA Telstra Business of the Year” as well as "Best Micro Business”.
Karen Kotze and her book cafe The Bodhi Tree, was awarded the "Sensis Social Responsibility Award”.
Both businesses will now go on to challenge the national finals being held in Sydney in August.
"KAPP Engineering partners Peter Parlongo, Praveen Paul, Amir Tanady and Kieran Sadlier, and Karen Kotze from the Bodhi Tree have had great support through the Small Business Development Corporation’s advisory service and we are delighted that their hard work and expertise has been recognised by these Awards,” said Ms Jacky Finlayson, SBDC Acting Managing Director.
"Praveen Paul from KAPP Engineering was also an early member of the SBDC’s Young Business Network, and a keen participant in the Young Business Network program.”
"I congratulate these terrific Western Australian entrepreneurs for their professionalism and tenacity in building solid, successful businesses,” Ms Finlayson said.
KAPP Engineering has designed and developed automatic control systems for hundreds of local, interstate and overseas projects including the Mindarie Regional Council’s waste management plant, the South Metropolitan Regional Council’s waste composting facility and a wide range of water treatment plants.
Karen Kotze brought her business dream to reality by growing her home based online bookshop into a unique book café with a social and environmental twist. Karen’s business philosophy includes making a valuable contribution to the community with a commitment to environmental sustainability.
