Holidays the trigger for budding entrepreneurs

06 January 2010

Holidays are often the trigger for budding entrepreneurs to start thinking about working for themselves.

SBDC Acting Managing Director, Ms Jacky Finlayson says the summer holiday period is a busy time for the Corporation because many people start thinking seriously about establishing their own business, rather than returning to their jobs.

"For that reason, holidays are the perfect time to find out what's required to start up a business, either at home or in commercial premises," Ms Finlayson said.

The SBDC conducts introductory workshops on How to Start a Business covering the essentials that need to be considered when establishing and running a business in Western Australia.

For only $50 per person, the two-hour workshops cover legal structures, business planning, marketing and research and all participants receive a free checklist for starters and a copy of the SBDC publication A Guide to Operating a Small Business

The next How to Start a Business workshops will be held in Perth on:

  • Wednesday, 20 January 2010 from 9.30am to 11.30am; and
    Thursday, 28 January 2010 from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
