About the 2011 Small Business Grant Scheme

The primary objective of the 2011 Small Business Grant Scheme was to help cover the cost of professional services to:

  • increase the resilience of non-farm regional small businesses;
  • enhance their capacity to withstand the impact of future dry seasons; and
  • to build stronger rural communities.

The grant provided a subsidy of up to $1,500 (ex GST) to help eligible small businesses cover the cost of a professional service provider (accountant, financial planner, legal practitioner or management consultant), to identify areas of the business that can be improved, and to develop strategies that will increase the resilience of the business and its capacity to withstand the impact of future dry seasons.

Building stronger rural communities

The Western Australian Government, in partnership with the Commonwealth Government, is conducting a range of drought reform measures in parts of Western Australia.

The pilot program tested new measures designed to help rural and regional communities move from a crisis management approach to one of risk management. The aim is to better support these communities to prepare for the future challenges.

The program included an amount of $350,000 for the 2011 Small Business Grant Scheme, which was administered by the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC).
